Where is the Heritage Corridor?
The Heritage Corridor Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) encompasses the communities and counties along the historic 97-mile Illinois and Michigan Canal National Heritage Corridor. The Heritage Corridor spans from the Chicago Portage Area just southwest of Chicago to LaSalle-Peru including the counties of Will, Grundy, LaSalle and Putnam. The region conveniently located along I-55 from Chicago to Joliet along I-80 west to LaSalle-Peru.

The Morris Area from the Heritage Corridor offers a historic downtown and stunning architecture from the old days. The Goose Lake Prairie State Park is the perfect place to spend some relaxing outdoor moments. We also invite you to The Grundy County Corn Festival for some fun with your family or friends.

Explore the area's state parks. You'll be taken back to the 1800's with the natural beauty of the 2,600-acre Goose Lake Prairie State Park. The 30 rolling acres of Gebhard Woods State Park combine the serenity of the I&M Canal with historical, cultural and recreational activities. William G. Stratton State Park is home to jet skiing, water skiing, fishing, and boating on the Illinois River. Kerry Sheridan Grove - McKinley Woods in Channahon, is located where the Des Plaines, DuPage and Kankakee Rivers meet to form the Illinois River. Bring your fishing poles and a picnic lunch for a relaxing day in a picturesque setting.

Visit, shop and eat at the quaint towns of Coal City, Morris, Dwight, Mazon and Gardner. Each one offers a different small town experience.

Grundy County Corn Festival
The Grundy County Corn Festival is an inviting time of family, friends and fun. Each September, downtown Morris is alive with entertainment, Surrey rides, water fights, a talent show and carnival. The variety of shows includes arts and ceramics, crafts and flea markets, photographs, hobbies and handicrafts as well as corn, grain and flowers. This five-day festival is the perfect mix of small-town charm and big city fun.

Goose Lake Prairie State Natural Area
Visiting Goose Lake Prairie State Natural Area today is much like seeing the Prairie State as it was 150 years ago. The area offers hiking, picnicking and wildlife viewing. Tall Grass nature Trail displays the largest stand of tall grass prairie remaining in Illinois.
